Welcome to the Cardiovascular Sciences Collaborative Programs

2004 Bigelow Book Prize Recipient, Nathalie Lapointe

Nathalie is a nurse that is dedicated towards a career as a cardiovascular researcher with a focus on understanding change in cardiac energy metabolism in patients with cardiovascular disease. Her PhD thesis outlines the effect of endogenous vasodilator substances before, during and after myocardial infarction in rats with or without insulin resistance. Nathalie is presently doing a post-doctoral fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School where her focus is on the effect of aldosterone on cardiac metabolism, age and progression of cardiac disease. Her ultimate career goal is to be able to look back at patients through the eyes of a nurse and to see that her bench research has contributed to their survival and improved their quality of life.
