Jane's doctoral research is on understanding the process of decision-making for patients considering heart transplantation or ventricular assist device implantation. The work has evolved out of her clinical experience listening to and working with patients implanted with a ventricular assist device. Describing how patients make decisions is an important piece in the larger understanding of patient preferences for treatment in advanced heart failure. Upon completion of her PhD, Jane hopes to work as a clinician-scientist in the Heart Failure/Heart Transplant program at Toronto General Hospital.
